Rockstar Librarian

Position Overview: As our Rockstar Librarian, you will play a key role in shaping the library experience for patrons of all ages. You'll be responsible for curating engaging and interactive library programs, offering personalized reading recommendations, and ensuring our library remains a welcoming, inclusive space for all. This isn’t your typical librarian job—expect to have fun, be creative, and make a big impact on the lives of our community members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and lead programming for all age groups, including storytimes, book clubs, maker spaces, tech workshops, and special events.
• Provide personalized reading recommendations to library visitors, helping them discover new books and authors that spark their imagination and curiosity.
• Foster a love of reading by creating fun, innovative, and educational activities that inspire lifelong learning.
• Assist patrons in locating books, resources, and information, using both traditional and digital formats.
• Curate and maintain collections that reflect the diverse interests and needs of the community.
• Collaborate with library staff to develop and implement new programs, services, and initiatives that enhance the library's role in the community.
• Promote library events and resources through social media, newsletters, and outreach efforts.
• Stay current on emerging trends in libraries, technology, and educational programming to keep our services relevant and exciting.

Qualifications:

• A passion for books, reading, and community engagement.
• Strong background in programming or event planning—experience working with children, teens, or adults is a plus.
• Creativity, enthusiasm, and the ability to think outside the box.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of library systems, cataloging, and resource management is preferred but not required.
• A degree in Library Science (MLS or equivalent) is preferred, though relevant experience and a commitment to ongoing learning are also valued.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaborate within a team.
